"My fine, uh, fellow," you hazard. "I think you and I could probably come to an arrangement."
"Hmmmm?" says the vole-man with a squint.
"I'm afraid the Kalranthi want to bring me to some harm. I don't want that. I could give you something of value, and maybe you could tell the Kalranthi that you couldn't find me," you suggest..
"No. Kalranthi can make me dead. I forget you even say that," offers the alien with a concerned frown.
"Oh," you reply, miserably. "So, there's really nothing that could tempt you?"
The vole considers this for a moment, a pensive look forming on his furry, leather-ish face.
"Maybe you give wrist computer to me," it suggests.
"You want TRUDI?" you ask, a little taken aback.
"Yes," answers the vole-man with conviction. "Or, you follow me into corridor here and we go see Kalranthi."
If you'd like to just pretend you didn't try and bribe the alien, follow him into the corridor by turning to

Or, if you think TRUDI is worth giving up so you don't get beaten, eaten, or whatever the Kalranthi have in mind, turn to
